The 10^th edition of  Festival Jazz & Blues, one of the most prestigious Brazilian jazz and blues festival is scheduled to start nest Saturday in Guaramiranga, Ceará. For the 10^th year in a row, good jazz and blues music will climb the mountain to head up to Guaramiranga, Ceará, elected in 2008 the second most romantic city in Brazill. After four days in Guaramiranga heights, the Festival will also run in Ceara’s coastal capital, Fortaleza. Tha festival is an excelent alternative for those who are looking for a different carnival and every is attended by thousands music enthusiasts from all over Brazil.

Agenda - Festival Verão 2009 Salvador, Salvador - BA, 28/01 - 31/01

Starting today and running until January 31, the Festival Verão 2009 Salvador (Salvador Summer Festival 2009) represents the 11th edition of the biggest Brazilian summer festival.  The festival will include four days of music, colour and joy.

The main atractions include international star Alanis Morissette and Brazilian stars like Biquíni Cavadão, Chiclete com Banana, O Rappa, A Zorra, Daniela Mercury, Ivete Sangalo, Jota Quest, Ana Carolina and Banda Eva.

Fortaleza: Playing with in Pre-Carnival

The year has just began and Fortaleza is already in Carnival climate. In every corner of the city, it is now possible to listen to and to dance at the sound of the Fortaleza’s Pre-Carnival 2009 blocs. The event, promoted by the Municpality of Fortaleza, through its Culture Secretary (Secultfor), spreads the carnival blocs thorugh the city’s neighborhoods and calls the people to play. Closing the party, singer Lenine will perform for free on February 14.

Agenda - Alanis Morissette in Fortaleza, Ceará (24/01)

Alanis in Fortaleza

One of the first international atractions performing in Fortaleza (and in Brazil) in 2009 is Alanis Morissette. Alanis will be promoting her new work, Flavors of Engagement and will perfome in 11 brazilian cities. The first of these shows will take place in Manaus on January, 21.

Fortaleza will also have the opportunity to check live Alanis’ latest work on January 24, on Siará Hall. While Alanis has never managed to replicate the success of Jagged Little Pill, she continued to release well-received albums into the 21st century and this new album - filled with songs of heartbreak, anger, and regret, along with a healthy dose of self affirmation - represents her seventh studio effort.

‘Anotações com Arte’ is a colection of books created by entrepreneur and cultural producer Fred Rossi and Vinicius de Moraes’ latest manager. this project has already payed tribute to Vinicius de Moraes, Chico Buarque de Hollanda and Tom Jobim and it is now celebrating Bossa Nova’s 50 years with a special edition, full of cultural and literary content.

Using a format of both book and calendar, it tells Bossa Nova’s history, by revisiting its main personalities (such as Nara Leão, Carlos Lira, Sylvinha Telles, João Gilberto, Alaíde Costa, Menescal, Elis Regina, Vinicius and Tom Jobim) and happenings. As in previous editions, actor and dramaturg Oswaldo Mendes is the author of bothe the texts and the historical research.
