CE-040 - Enlarging down to Beberibe

Ceará Governor, Cid Gomes, together with Tourism Secretary, Bismarck Maia, and Infrastructure Secretary, Adail Fontenele, will launch today the works which will enlarge 44,5 km of state road CE-040, which connects Ceará’s capital Fortaleza to the beaches on the East Coast, turning it into a two lanes road.

The full project spreads from the entrance to Iguape (Aquiraz) down to the municipality of Beberibe. The work - which will follow up on the enlargement done until Iguape -, is an iniciative promoted by the Tourism Secretary (Setur). According to Bismarck Maia, the project is part of the Ceará’s Government strategy to build a quality touristic destination. Such infrastructural interventions will provide further quality to the touristic destination on Ceará’s eastern coats, as happened is countries such as Algarve.

The enlargement project will be divided in two phases and should be delivered in 12 months. Phase one, from Iguape to Cascavel, spreads over 28 km; phase two, from Cascavel to Beberibe, spreads over 16,5 km. The investment accounts to a total of R$ 86,4 million, fully funded by Prodetur Nacional (Brazil’s National Tourism Development Program). The enlargement will benefit and qualify touristic destinations on Ceará’s eastern coast, such as Caponga, Águas Belas, Morro Branco, Praia das Fontes, Portal de Maceió, Majorlândia and Canoa Quebrada.
