Vale’s Agnelli Says Brazil Should Boost Spending on Roads, Dams
By Carlos Caminada and Laura Price
Dec. 4 (Bloomberg) - Roger Agnelli, Cia. Vale do Rio Doce’s chief executive officer, called on Brazil to boost spending on roads, ports, hydro-electric dams and other infrastructure projects as global demand wanes, hurting exporters.
Brazil is best poised to weather global turmoil among countries where Vale operates because of “strong” consumption and “sound” finances, Agnelli said today at an event in Sao Paulo. The leader of the world’s largest iron-ore producer said exporters in Brazil will suffer more because the global economy is slowing, while companies focused on the domestic market will be less affected.
